ENTERPRISE FEATURE: If you're interested in an Enterprise plan, contact sales.
Default Respondent Authentication and Anonymous Responses settings are available to all Enterprise customers. The other features in this article are Enterprise add-ons—contact your Customer Success Manager to add it to your team.
If you’re the Primary Admin of an Enterprise team, you can access the Settings section in My Team to set default settings and permissions for your entire team.
You can set default collector types and collector options for your entire Enterprise team, control whether people can change these default selections, and allow or restrict the types of collectors your team can use to send surveys.
The default settings are applied to all future collectors your team creates. Existing collectors—including recurring surveys—don't change, but can be edited to match the default settings.
This Restrict Collector Types setting lets you choose the collector types your team can use to send surveys. If a collector type is disabled, your team will see it greyed out in the Collect Responses section.
Any existing and open collectors created before the default settings were made can be used until they're closed.
To restrict the collector types your team can use:
You can’t disable the Target Audience collector.
The Primary Admin controls whether people on your team can send surveys by text message. By default, no one on the team has access to send surveys by text message.
To let people send surveys by text message:
Team members you give access to can create Text Message collectors. If you disable access later, team members won't be able to send or create new Text Message collectors, but they can see their existing collectors.
Whether or not team members can change these settings in individual collectors depends on whether the default settings were locked in Settings or conflict within a web link collector.
The Respondent Authentication setting on the web link collector is available to teams with SSO enabled. When Respondent Authentication is enabled, survey takers are required to log in through SSO to access the survey, and their responses are tracked with this SSO metadata.
You can set the default Respondent Authentication collector option for all new web link collectors.
Once you select a default setting, you can choose to lock it so no one on your team can change it.
To set the team default:
If the default settings for Respondent Authentication and Anonymous Responses are both On, the default options on web link collectors will update.
The Anonymous Responses setting lets you control the level of anonymity for any collector type. Enabling this default setting helps enforce company policies or prevent users on the team from capturing info like Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
You can set the Anonymous Responses team default to one of the following:
Once you select a default setting, you can choose to lock it so no one on your team can change it.
To set a team default:
If the default settings for Respondent Authentication and Anonymous Responses are both On, the default options on web link collectors will update.
Because the Respondent Authentication feature always records the SSO profile information for everyone that takes the survey, responses can't be anonymous when Respondent Authentication is turned on.
So, while you're able to turn on both Respondent Authentication and Anonymous Responses by default in Settings, both of these settings won't actually be reflected in new Web Link collectors your team creates. Instead, Respondent Authentication will remain turned on, and responses won't be anonymous.
If Respondent Authentication is unlocked and Anonymous Responses is locked, people in your team can turn off Respondent Authentication, and the Anonymous Responses setting will automatically update to match the locked default setting.
The team's default settings are automatically applied to new collectors. If the default setting is locked, team members can't change the setting. If unlocked, team members can change it, but we recommend keeping the default selected by your Admin.
Anyone on the team can update existing collectors to match the team’s default preference, but if the default setting is locked, team members won't be able to change it back.
If the default settings for Respondent Authentication and Anonymous Responses are both On, the default options on web link collectors will update.
Team members can see all collector types in the Collect Responses section. If a collector type is greyed out, it can't be used to send your survey because the Primary Admin disabled it.
You can create custom roles that will give team members more or less access, depending on how they use SurveyMonkey. Give seats on your team access to certain features, and administrative functions in the following permission areas: Manage users, team-wide settings, manage team credits, team library, Division management, and advanced access and permissions.
If a respondent asks you or someone on your team to erase their response data, you can search across your team and filter by Email Invitation and Text Message collector metadata to find and delete applicable responses. Depending on where you and your respondents are located, you may be required to respond to requests from people who ask to exercise their data privacy rights.
To find and delete survey responses:
Filters let you search for respondent metadata—results won't include responses where name or email was collected as survey data.
Your Enterprise Team may use Budgets instead to manage credits.
You can restrict users in your team from buying SurveyMonkey Audience responses unless they get your approval.
To set permissions to buy responses:
Toggle | Description |
On (default) | Users can buy SurveyMonkey Audience responses without your approval—they can buy responses directly with a credit card or buy credits themselves. |
Off | Users can't buy SurveyMonkey Audience responses without your approval. Users need to request Audience Credits and you can transfer credits to the user so they can purchase responses. When a user requests credits, you’ll get a notification email. You can manage all credit balances from the Manage Credits tab. |
You can restrict users in your team from collecting personally identifiable information (PII) in the following open-ended question types: Single Textbox, Multiple Textbox, Comment Box, Contact Information, or Text A/B Testing.
When this setting is enabled, open-ended questions are flagged if they include any of the following PII terms:
Toggle | Description |
On | Users can't collect PII in open-ended questions. If a user adds a question that asks for restricted PII, they won't be able to save the question. We'll tell them to edit the question so it no longer asks for personal information. |
Off (default) | Users can collect PII in surveys. |
